Prolonged exposure to palmitate also causes induction of ceramides, which are a signaling mechanism; ceramides interfere with the mRNA (messenger RNA) of insulin, required for the production of insulin. In another word, palmitate also causes an alteration in genetic expression of insulin, further, triggering the Sorbitol-Aldose Pathways. (3)

R-Alpha Lipoic (Also known as R-Lipoic Acid) is a redox agent, capable of correcting the NAD/NADH ratio, which its improper ratio is a key cause of conversion of glucose to palmitate (fat).

Studies have shown, unequivocally, that the Application of R-Alpha Lipoic has resulted in the reduction of corporal weight, in obese individual. (4)
