WellBalance Joins Efforts to Improve Health on World Health Day April 7, 2012

Asheville, NC (PRWEB) April 06, 2012

WellBalance, which operates fitness and weight loss camps for teens, kids, and young adults ages 10 20, is supporting the 2012 World Health Day campaign for aging and health.

World Health Day April 7. 2012 focuses on ageing and health with the campaign slogan: Good health adds life to years.” This emphasis is designed to influence people to live as healthy as possible in order to maximize the number of years they get to live pain and illness free.

Everything WellBalances fitness and weight loss camp does supports this World Health Effort as WellBalance works on helping families lead happier, healthier lives, said John Taylor, celebrity fitness expert and Vice President of Programs for WellBalance. It’s imperative people understand that the decisions they make now can affect their ability to live a longer life.

According to WHO research, people from all parts of the world are now starting to live longer, in part due to advances in medical care and pharmaceuticals. However, the WHO warns that it is more important than ever to lead a healthy lifestyle. Since the world population is living longer, funding for healthcare may run out, and treating the elderly for illness and disease may become more difficult.

In many cases, the costs associated with treating the sick and injured can impoverish an entire family. This is why preventing disease through long-term healthy lifestyle habits is the best defense for avoiding debilitation and financial burden.

The WHO also found that heart disease and stroke are the biggest causes of death for people around the world, and in many cases, treatable and avoidable high blood pressure was a key contributor to these losses in life. Studies show that obese indivdiuals are more likely to develop heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure, as well as many forms of cancer, than their healthy weight peers.

As part of the World Health Day events, WellBalance will take an active role in teaching weight loss campers and their families ways to develop healthier habits that can be maintained into their elder years. To do this, WellBalance will implement healthy living curriculums that adhere to the following WHO health guidelines:

???? Be physically active, eat a healthy diet, and avoid the harmful use of alcohol and tobacco products to reduce the risk of chronic disease in older age.
???? Minimize the consequences of chronic disease through early detection and quality care.
???? Create physical and social environments that foster the health and participation of older people.
???? Reinvent ageing by changing social attitudes of what old age is, and encourage the participation of older people.

The WHO recognizes that people from all over the world are living longer due to advances in medical technology, continued Mr. Taylor, But if we all live healthier– eating right and getting exercise–we can prevent avoidable illnesses and increase our longevity without medical intervention. WellBalance campers and families come to us because they realize that they arent living the healthiest of lifestyles, and we help them make positive changes that will help them to avoid premature death and crippling disease.

Knoxville Nutritionist Launches Mid-Life Makeover Website

Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) March 29, 2012

Nutritionist and Wellness Coach Nicole Fey doesnt believe midlife should be a crisis. She teaches her clients to eagerly enter midlife and emerge infinitely brighter, radically different, and joyfully re-energized. Fey recently launched her website (http://www.InfinitelyBrighter.com) to help guide and mentor those experiencing midlife crisis to move towards their higher destiny.

I want to help anyone going through midlife to understand that their best years are in front of them and they have the courage to create the life theyve always wanted. Whether its their weight, health, career or relationships, moving out of stagnation and creating forward movement is the answer, said Fey.

Fey helps her clients discover how everyday food and lifestyle choices can affect their health, business and overall happiness. We uncover which patterns are fueling their life goals, those that sabotage them and what to do about it. We also outline a personalized action plan to take charge of their weight, energy, health issues and performance, she said.

Fey explains that there are five doorways to the second half of life. These are nutrition, detoxification, synchro-alignment, energy healing, and fitness/yoga.

Feeling great everyday has everything to do with how youre feeding yourself. Fatigue, disease, and just feeling bad no longer have to be the norm. We teach which foods nourish and support and those which will ultimately transform every area of your life.

If someone going through midlife is feeling down, sluggish, and unmotivated, chances are its the build-up of toxins in their body. We show how to cleanse and detoxify not only their body, but also their environment and even their thoughts. Once they release the stuff thats weighing them down, they soar, said Fey.

Besides being a wellness coach and nutritionist, Fey is also a certified Feng Shui master. She shows clients how to align themselves with their home or office. By using ancient Feng Shui principles, we help clients feel uplifted, empowered and enveloped in their sacred space through good Feng Shui, she added.

My coaching techniques are the culmination of my lifes experience, and education. I was a very sickly kid. As I got older, my eating habits reflected a typical teenagers, mostly junk. By the time I was 21, I was really unhealthy. My weight was up, I was bloated, constipated and always felt bad. By the age of 26, I was really in trouble. I couldnt really function at work because I would get so tired. I was moody and depressed, uncomfortable and anti-social because I didnt feel good enough to go out, Fey said.

One day, a friend clued me in and told me I was eating foods that I was probably allergic or sensitive to and it was messing up my whole system and even my outlook on life. Finally, with some direction and focus I was able to tackle my health issues that were holding me back, said Fey.

I became a voracious reader and luckily the books that landed in my lap first were inspiring and eye opening. I became passionate about eating real, natural foods, making delicious fresh fruit and vegetable juices and helping other people resolve their health issues that were robbing them of their vibrance, energy and passion for life.

At the time I was a personal trainer and it became apparent to me that exercise was not always enough to lose weight. Over the next two decades, I became a Certified Nutrition Counselor, Certified Reiki Master, Certified Bau-Biologist, Certified Feng Shui practitioner, and Certified Yoga Instructor. I took all these modalities and put them under one umbrella, and began my practice as a Holistic Health Coach said Fey.

Today I find at midlife, my life is wide-open, the ending yet unscripted, with an expectation that the next 50 years will be my best years to come. And I hold that vision for every client I work with, Fey added.

Albany CrossFit Announces Top Coach Contest

(PRWEB) March 21, 2012

Albany CrossFit, part of an insurgent fitness movement that is changing the way people around the world think about diet, health and fitness, today announced that online voting is open for its “Top Coach” competition.

The results will help determine who becomes the next coach at one of the largest and best respected CrossFit gyms in the the Northeast United Sates.

Each of nine applicants submitted a video resume. Albany CrossFit members can view the videos online and cast their votes. The applicants will also be assessed by the current coaching staff. And there will also be “elimination challenges” that Albany CrossFit owner Jason Ackerman prefers “to keep mysterious for the moment.”

“We’re looking for a good attitude and a willingness to learn, ” says Ackerman. The winner will receive a paid Level One CrossFit certification and a tryout on the Albany CrossFit coaching staff.

All the applicants are current members. “We’ve found that works best,” explains Ackerman. “Bringing in outsiders hasn’t usually been successful. So now we prefer to promote from within. And this friendly competition is very much in keeping with what we do every day.”

The Albany CrossFit Gym began modestly four years ago in cramped and shared space with a handful of members. It expanded to a second location in Clifton Park over the summer. Renovations were recently completed at the original location. Together, both gyms have over 500 members.

Why the success for a very tough workout regimen?

“It’s the community feeling and the caring,” says Albany CrossFit and CrossFit Clifton Park owner Jason Ackerman. “We treat everyone who walks through the door like an athlete, regardless of their current fitness level, and our members are great about encouraging each other. So people are able to go way beyond what they thought possible.”

The workouts focus on natural and functional movements and are different every day. Every workout is coached and the coaches scale the workouts to accommodate different ability levels. CrossFit uses barbells, kettlebells, pull up bars and many body weight movements including squats and pushups.

And it’s a bit like the TV series “Cheers”: everyone knows your name. Members strike up friendships, go out together and travel together. A few have even gotten married.

“CrossFit is for everyone, not just the young and already in the shape,” says Ackerman. “Many of our members have remarkable transformation stories to tell. And one of them just might be our next coach.”
